Message from the President

Greetings Everyone! Finally a few rays of sunshine have made their way through our cloudy skies. It has been a long winter but finally Spring is here!

I am looking forward to seeing everyone in June at our convention in Harrison Hot Springs. I am sure it will be a fun night at the RED CARPET PARTY with everyone dressed as their favourite movie star or movie character. The new glossy registration and information package that you were sent in the mail contains all the details and forms for the continuing education, dinners, and golf.

I would like to Thank everyone on the Association’s Executive Committee for working so diligently on all our common interests as Denturists.

Scope of practice has always been an important issue here in B.C. and I would like to particularly thank Darren Sailer for all his endeavours in this area.

Phillip Landsberger, who is Chair of the Peer Review Committee, has done a great job handling patient complaints that come through the DABC office.

Paul Biddle along with Darren Sailer are the super team when negotiating our fee guide with Pacific Blue Cross.

Congratulations to Tanya Little on the birth of her baby girl! Tanya is our College liaison and she also presents reports to the Executive on meetings she attends,such as the Quality Assurance at the College and the Program advisory Committee meetings at VCC.

Thanks to Steve Aiken for his input on the Continuing Education Committee.

A special thank you to Tanya Hunt for her participation on the Executive and providing some of the continuing education for this year’s convention. Tanya has recently resigned from the Executive.

A warm welcome to Kore Connolly as he joins the DABC Executive Committee. Kore will be completing Tanya’s term.

I would like to encourage all denturists who are passionate about their profession and would like to see the continued advancement of Denturism to please come forward and join the executive !

The 6th World Symposium on Denturism will take place in Las Vegas, October 13-18, 2009. This event is being sponsored by the International Federation of Denturists and the National Denturist Association (US). Registration forms will be coming soon. Come out and join the fun with denturists from all over the world! Hope to see you all there!

Next year our Convention, in conjunction with the Annual General meeting of the Denturist Association of Canada, will be held at The Westin Resort & Spa Whistler.
